Deborah A. Golino, Susan T. Sim, Raymond Gill, Adib Rowhani http://xtf.cdlib.org:8080/xtf/data/pdf/calag56-6/calag56-6.pdf UC Davis's Foundation Plant Materials Service (FPMS) maintains the disease-tested, professionally identified collection of grape scion and rootstock varieties, which is the core of the California Grapevine Registration and Certification Program. In 1992, newly developed serological testing techniques revealed the presence of grapevine leafrollassociated viruses (GLRaVs) in previously healthy vines in an older foundation propagating block, indicating active and recent virus spread. FPMS responded by increasing isolation distances and implementing a comprehensive virus screening program using the new methodology. The critical problem was the lack of information on leafroll virus epidemiology. When the distribution of infected plants in the old vineyard was mapped, new infections were frequently adjacent to known diseased grapevines. This study examined the ability of mealybugs, a putative leafroll vector, to transmit this group of viruses. Dale Heien, Philip Martin http://xtf.cdlib.org:8080/xtf/data/pdf/calag57-3/calag57-3.pdf The wine industry in California and the world is entering a new era, marked by consolidation and globalization. People are drinking less but better wine. Will producers of lower-priced grapes raise quality to attract more upscale wine drinkers, putting downward pressure on all grape and wine prices, or will the wine-grape industry fragment into distinct quality and price segments? In 2001 and 2002, an increased grape supply and the recession led to declining prices for wine grapes in all areas of California except the North Coast. Predictions of a severe wine-grape glut obscure the possibility that a fragmented wine industry is developing in which some segments prosper while others languish. http://xtf.cdlib.org:8080/xtf/data/pdf/calag57-3/calag57-3.pdf Wed, 01 Jan 2003 12:00:00 GMT The capital of the tycoon: a narrative of a three years'residence in Japan. CSS 2.1 is a style sheet language that allows authors and users to attach style (e.g., fonts and spacing) to structured documents (e.g., HTML documents and XML applications). By separating the presentation style of documents from the content of documents, CSS 2.1 simplifies Web authoring and site maintenance. CSS 2.1 builds on CSS2 [CSS2] which builds on CSS1 [CSS1]. Roughly half of all U.S. fruit and vegetable production is under contract. Contract usage varies widely across agricultural products. For example, 95% of poultry is raised under contract while only 13% of corn is. The wine grape industry utilizes contracts, yet little is known about the extent of contract use, or the use of specific terms and objectives. We used a survey to analyze contract use among wine grape producers, determine which users are utilizing contracts, and identify how they differ from nonusers. Ninety percent of the growers who responded to the survey have contracts, the majority of which were multiyear, averaging 3.7 years. Growers with more experience, larger vineyards, more expensive grapes and longer relationships with the buyer were more likely to enter into contracts. http://xtf.cdlib.org:8080/xtf/data/pdf/calag56-3/calag56-3.pdf Tue, 01 Jan 2002 12:00:00 GMT The coreceptor mutation CCR5Δ32 influences the dynamics of HIV epidemics and is selected for by HIV. Sullivan, Amy D., Wigginton, Janis, Kirschner, Denise http://xtf.cdlib.org:8080/xtf/view?docId=nlm/pnas/pnas.xml We explore the impact of a host genetic factor on heterosexual HIV epidemics by using a deterministic mathematical model. A protective allele unequally distributed across populations is exemplified in our models by the 32-bp deletion in the host-cell chemokine receptor CCR5, CCR5Δ32. Individuals homozygous for CCR5Δ32 are protected against HIV infection whereas those heterozygous for CCR5Δ32 have lower pre-AIDS viral loads and delayed progression to AIDS. CCR5Δ32 may limit HIV spread by decreasing the probability of both risk of infection and infectiousness. In this work, we characterize epidemic HIV within three dynamic subpopulations: CCR5/CCR5 (homozygous, wild type), CCR5/CCR5Δ32 (heterozygous), and CCR5Δ32/CCR5Δ32 (homozygous, mutant). Our results indicate that prevalence of HIV/AIDS is greater in populations lacking the CCR5Δ32 alleles (homozygous wild types only) as compared with populations that include people heterozygous or h... http://xtf.cdlib.org:8080/xtf/view?docId=nlm/pnas/pnas.xml Sat, 01 Aug 1970 12:00:00 GMT Cotruhg Baxxei Cuywvui Vudnywa Zidozjm. William L. Peacock, L. Peter Christensen http://xtf.cdlib.org:8080/xtf/data/pdf/calag59-3/calag59-3.pdf Boron deficiency of grapevines occurs occasionally on the east side of the San Joaquin Valley. Its symptoms include shot berries, shoot-tip dieback and leaves with yellowish mottling between veins. Boron must be applied carefully because the range between deficiency and toxicity is narrow. Our research evaluated the safety and efficacy of boron fertigation of grapevines using drip irrigation. Applying boron annually at 1/3 pound per acre to a moderately deficient vineyard elevated tissue levels into the adequate range within 2 years. However, the amount of boron used in a fertigation maintenance program will vary with leaching potential. Blade samples should be routinely monitored following fertigation and fertilizer amounts adjusted accordingly to avoid boron toxicity or deficiency. http://xtf.cdlib.org:8080/xtf/data/pdf/calag59-3/calag59-3.pdf Sat, 01 Jan 2005 12:00:00 GMT Efygaky Gujyqu Vofi Tohos Kammukbyas, 1893-1995 (nydh 1978-1995). The working group agreed that the available evidence would be hard to interpret without discussion of the changing context within which consultations now take place. For many years general practitioners and those who have surveyed patients' opinions in the United Kingdom have complained about short consultation time, despite a steady increase in actual mean length. L. Peter Christensen, Robert H. Beede, William L. The reduction of fruit-set deficiency symptoms with a pre-bloom or bloom spray was immediate but not complete. Foliar sprays applied during the previous fall were more effective in reducing such symptoms than pre-bloom or bloom sprays. This may be due to the earlier incorporation of boron in reproductive tissues, especially dormant buds. Grapevine foliage is also more tolerant to boron postharvest in the fall, when 1 pound per acre of actual boron can be safely applied. Spring and summer sprays of boron should be limited to 1/2 pound per acre per application to avoid phytotoxicity. http://xtf.cdlib.org:8080/xtf/data/pdf/calag60-2/calag60-2.pdf Sun, 01 Jan 2006 12:00:00 GMT Fiasmohbu of Beombe Madtub PqQuo / by Vdojxeb Exklfxunb 1960. Graham Brown, Donald Getz http://xtf.cdlib.org:8080/xtf/data/text/2660/2660.txt This article explores the links between wine consumers’ preferences for wine from particular countries or regions and their interest in, and propensity to travel to, specific wine regions. Data from a convenience sample of 161 wine consumers in Calgary, Canada, revealed that specific appellation-oforigin preferences (e.g., for Australian or French wines) do have an influence on travel preferences and patterns. Nearly 70% of respondents preferred to drink wines from particular origins, and planned wine-related travel by respondents closely matched those geographic preferences. Other factors, however, were also shown to be important in shaping wine tourism destinations, including distance and cognitive factors. Implications are drawn for wine tourism marketing and for destination-choice theory. Recommendations are made for future research. http://xtf.cdlib.org:8080/xtf/data/text/2660/2660.txt Sat, 01 Jan 2005 12:00:00 GMT Linrot Vuhgaswuq Wunawynmf: dysuqiu. unknown http://xtf.cdlib.org:8080/xtf/view?docId=ead/ead-test-col/durham.ac.uk/dcdreg.xml IDLastUsed1 http://xtf.cdlib.org:8080/xtf/view?docId=ead/ead-test-col/durham.ac.uk/dcdreg.xml Thu, 01 Jan 1970 12:00:00 GMT Lyke Geqryi Wewonh.
